Successful CADAVERIC Hand Surgery Workshop at Government Omandurar Medical College

  • On  22nd, 23rd November  2024, the Department of Orthopaedics and the Department of Anatomy at Government Omandurar Medical College, in collaboration with the Tamilnadu Orthopaedic Association and the Madras Orthopaedic Society, proudly hosted a groundbreaking CADAVERIC Hand Surgery Workshop. This event marked the first-ever cadaveric hand surgery workshop conducted within a government setup in Tamilnadu, setting a new precedent for medical education in the region.
  • This intensive two-day program was designed to provide orthopedic surgeons with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to practice various procedures on cadavers. The workshop featured an esteemed faculty, including Dr. G. Karthikeyan, former Head of the Department of Hand & Reconstructive Surgery; Dr. Srinivasan Rajappa, Head of the Department of Hand Surgery at SRIHER; and Dr. Terrence Jerome, Consultant Hand and Micro Surgery at Olympia Hospital, Trichy.
  • Under the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. A. Srinivasan , Head of the Department at Omandurar Medical College, the workshop maintained a strong educational focus while operating as a non-profit initiative.
  • Participants hailed from across the country, demonstrating immense enthusiasm and dedication throughout the sessions. The workshop’s format ensured that every delegate could actively engage in and experience each procedure demonstrated by the distinguished faculty. Such was the interest and commitment from the participants that many extended their stay beyond the scheduled workshop hours to maximize their learning opportunities.
  • Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with participants expressing complete satisfaction with the workshop’s organization and execution. Many conveyed their eagerness for future workshops and commended the organizing team for delivering such a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.
